How do you take part?

Everyone who enters is part of the competition - just make sure you nominate your state, territory or NZ on the entry form for each team member. It's ok if you are from different jurisdictions. Points are scored for places in all of the championship categories that you are eligible for. Teams with members from different jurisdictions split their points in proportion to membership.

So, how can you try to stack things for your state/territory/NZ?

No secrets here - get as many people as possible to come to the event! Of course stacking your jurisdiction's contingent with older or younger rogainers can help too.

E.g. if you are a mixed supervet, then you are eligible for mixed supervet, mixed vets and mixed open points or if you are a youth team, then you are also eligible for open points.

Each Australian state and territory, and New Zealand, teams earn points across each age and gender category, and more teams representing different places increases the points that can be scored.

Tasmania are the current holders of the Interstate and Trans-Tasman Challenge trophy.

The rules for the pointscore are on the ARA website.

One of the multi-category winning Tasmanian teams in 2024 Thor Egerton and Jon Sutcliffe scored points from winning three categories in 2024 for Tasmania.

Friendly rivalry is encouraged as part of the fun of the challenge.
